News Wrap: Delhi Red Fort Car Blast, Pulwama-Faridabad Terror Module, and Key Developments Across India

1. Red Fort Blast Links Emerge to Pakistan-Backed JeM-AGH ‘White-Collar’ Terror Network, With Dr Mohammad Umar Under Probe

A powerful car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening has raised suspicions of a possible terror attack. The blast, which occurred around 6:52 pm near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, killed at least nine people and injured over 20 others. Intelligence agencies are examining whether Dr Mohammad Umar, reportedly associated with a Faridabad-based network, had any involvement in the incident. Officials said Umar may have links to the group exposed last week after the arrest of Dr Muzammil Shakeel, though his direct role in the explosion has not been confirmed.

Investigators are looking into possible links between the Red Fort blast and the Faridabad module, which is believed to have connections with Pakistan-backed groups Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH). Recently, security forces recovered nearly 2,900 kilograms of explosive materials, including ammonium nitrate, rifles, and timers, from two rented houses in Faridabad. The individuals arrested in that case include doctors and clerics from Jammu and Kashmir who allegedly used their professional identities to conceal their activities.

Officials said preliminary investigations indicate that members of the Faridabad group may have been in contact with radical elements in Kashmir. Among those arrested earlier were doctors Muzammil Shakeel and Adeel Ahmad Rather from Pulwama and Kulgam, who are suspected to have been influenced by a cleric named Molvi Irfan Ahmad, reportedly associated with slain terrorist Zakir Musa. Authorities believe the group used encrypted apps for communication, fund transfers, and logistical arrangements.

Police are also examining whether the car used in the Red Fort explosion, which had changed multiple owners between Faridabad and Pulwama, was part of a broader effort to conceal its origins. A Pulwama resident named Tariq, who is among those being questioned, allegedly purchased the vehicle before it reached Delhi. Forensic experts have detected traces of ammonium nitrate-based explosives, similar to the materials recovered from Faridabad, though the exact source remains under verification.

In a related development, security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir detained another doctor, Ahmed Mohiyuddin Saiyed, and recovered foreign-made pistols and ammunition. Authorities are probing whether this case is linked to the wider network suspected of planning multiple attacks. Officials said investigations are ongoing into what they describe as a possible “white-collar terror ring,” where educated professionals may have been recruited by Pakistan-backed outfits. Agencies have said that “all angles are being examined,” and no conclusion has yet been drawn.

2. “They’ll Love Us Again”: Trump Says US Nearing Fair Trade Deal with India

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday said the United States and India are close to reaching a “fair trade deal,” adding confidently that “they’ll love us again”. This comes as President Trump said they will “bring down” the tariffs imposed on India. Trump also mentioned, India was facing high tariffs due to its oil trade with Russia and once again claimed that New Delhi had “largely stopped” buying Russian oil.

The comment comes months after Trump doubled tariffs on Indian imports to 50% over New Delhi’s energy ties with Moscow. Trade talks between the two nations have been ongoing since, with Trump asserting that progress was being made toward a balanced agreement “good for everybody.”

3. Trump Confident Sergio Gor Takes Charge as US Ambassador to India

Sergio Gor was sworn in on Monday as the new US Ambassador to India and Special Envoy to South and Central Asia. The ceremony at the Oval Office was led by Vice President JD Vance and attended by top officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

US President Donald Trump praised Gor as the “best person for the job,” expressing confidence that he would strengthen ties between Washington and New Delhi. After taking the oath, Gor thanked Trump and said he looked forward to deepening the partnership between the world’s two largest democracies, focusing on trade, defence, and strategic cooperation.

4. Shravasti Police Bust Mass Conversion Attempt To Christianity, Arrest Two, Foreign Funding Under Scanner

On November 9, Shravasti Police foiled a large-scale religious conversion attempt in Bhayapurwa village under Hardatt Nagar Girant Police Station. Acting on a tip-off, police detained Rajesh Kumar alias Gaglu, who was allegedly persuading around 150 villagers to convert to Christianity using inducements. Officers recovered Christian religious books, pamphlets, and registers listing attendees’ names.

Police said Rajesh and his aide, Kundan, were offering money, ration, and jewellery to convince villagers to convert, with possible foreign funding under investigation. Police also seized an SBI passbook and photocopies of 20 bank passbooks of different banks. Links to pastors from Punjab and Nepal are also being probed.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Bhati stated that police recovered incriminating material from the site, including 197 licence cards, 198 registry identity cards, 484 baptism certificates, one SBI bank passbook, and other passbooks belonging to those who came to attend the meeting.

SP Bhati added that those who attended the meetings were paid. Meanwhile, a case has been filed under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021, while two accused remain on the run.

5. Red Fort Blast Probe Puts Spotlight on Al-Qaeda Offshoot Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind After J&K Terror Module Bust

Profiling Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH)

J&K Police’s recent bust of a transnational terror module and suspected links with Red Fort Terror Blast have once again brought Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGH) into the spotlight, Al-Qaeda’s most radical offshoot in India, born from Hizbul Mujahideen’s rebellion.

The Al-Qaeda Connection

Unlike Pakistan-backed JeM or LeT, AGH aligns with Al-Qaeda’s global jihad. Its goal isn’t “Azadi,” but the establishment of a Sharia-ruled Islamic State in Kashmir and beyond.

Zakir Musa – The Breakaway Commander

Formed in 2017 by Zakir Musa, a former Hizbul Mujahideen commander, AGH was his rebellion against Pakistan’s ISI influence. He accused Hizbul of betraying Islam by prioritizing nationalism over jihad.

2017 – The Turning Point

Musa’s public rift marked a shift from “Kashmiriyat” to pan-Islamic extremism. That year, he declared: “We fight for Islam, not Kashmir.” His words signaled Al-Qaeda’s entry into India’s terror theatre.

The Ideological Shift: Global Jihad vs. Independence

While separatists spoke of independence, Musa and AGH rejected it as “un-Islamic.” They called for global jihad – merging Kashmir’s militancy with Al-Qaeda’s ideology, targeting not just India, but anyone opposing Sharia.

After Musa’s Death in 2019

Though Musa was killed in 2019, his ideology survived online. AGH’s digital networks continued to radicalize youth, recruit professionals, and coordinate with foreign handlers. The recent J&K bust proves it’s far from gone.

The ‘White-Collar’ Terror Web

J&K Police’s operation exposed educated radicals – doctors, imams, engineers, running the network. Over 2,900 kg of IED material was seized. Terror has gone professional, ideological, and dangerously organized.

The Alarming Reality

From Musa’s ideology to modern-day terror tech, Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind is a reminder that Kashmir’s militancy has mutated – from local rebellion to global jihad.

6. Modern Sports City Could Replace Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium: Reports

The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi, one of India’s most iconic sports venues, could be demolished to make way for a modern Sports City, according to a senior sports ministry official. The project, currently in the “ideation stage”, aims to build world-class sports facilities and residential complexes for athletes, modeled on international examples like Doha’s Sports City. All existing offices, including those of the Sports Authority of India (SAI), National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), and National Dope Testing Laboratory (NDTL), will be relocated. Built for the 1982 Asian Games and renovated before the 2010 Commonwealth Games, the 60,000-seat stadium has hosted several major events, including the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the recent World Para Athletics Championships.

7. PM Modi in Bhutan to Attend Fourth King’s 70th Birthday, Inaugurate Major Hydropower Project

8. Journalist Lakshmi Subramanian Faces Backlash for Spreading Conspiracy Theory Linking Delhi Red Fort Blast to Bihar Elections

A journalist from The Week, Lakshmi Subramanian, sparked outrage after she linked the November 10 Red Fort blast in Delhi to the Bihar elections. Shortly after the explosion, which killed eight people and is also being investigated as a possible terror attack, Subramanian posted on X saying, “Tomorrow, the second phase of polling in Bihar. Today: Car bomb explosion in Delhi.” Her remark drew sharp criticism for spreading misinformation and indirectly insinuating political motives behind the attack and painting it as a false flag terror attack, a narrative that Pakistan constantly wants to peddle. The blast, involving a Hyundai i20 car near Red Fort Metro Station, is under probe by the NIA, NSG, and Delhi Police under the UAPA and Explosives Act.

9. Gujarat ISIS Module Planned Poisoning Drinking Water, Mandir Prasad With Deadly Ricin: Report

Indian intelligence agencies have warned that ISIS and its regional affiliates are shifting from traditional bomb attacks, that is kinetic to “non-kinetic options” – other modes of operation with biochemical and psychological forms of terrorism being among the foremost. This change in strategy, officials say, is meant to spread fear and social unrest instead of causing large-scale deaths. The warning follows a major counter-terror operation in Gujarat, where police foiled an ISIS-inspired plot involving ricin, a deadly toxin derived from castor seeds.

Gujarat Police arrested Dr. Ahmed Mohiuddin Syed, an MBBS graduate from Hyderabad, and two others, Mohd Suhel and Azad Suleman Saifi. As per News18 report citing sources, the terror accused doctors wanted to poison temple prasad and water sources in Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow with ricin. Officials say the accused were linked to ISIS propaganda channels and were influenced to use their technical skills for terror activities. The case, now under the UAPA, is being jointly investigated by Gujarat Police and central agencies to uncover possible links with Pakistan-based handlers and ISIS-Khorasan operatives.

10. Pulwama Link Emerges in Delhi Red Fort Blast, Three Arrested, Dr Umar’s Family Detained for Questioning

The investigation into the Red Fort blast, which killed eight people in Delhi, has revealed a Pulwama connection. Three people, Tariq Ahmad, Amir Rashid, and Umar Rashid, have been arrested from Kashmir, while the mother and two brothers of Dr. Umar U Nabi, the suspected bomber, have been detained for questioning. Sources said the explosive-laden Hyundai i20 used in the attack was linked to Dr. Umar, a Pulwama-based doctor working in Faridabad. Investigators believe the car changed hands multiple times between the accused before the blast occurred.

11. Busting Congress MLA Priyank Kharge’s False Claim Against RSS

Congress MLA Priyank Kharge, son of grand old party president Mallikarjun Kharge, recently shared a misleading post on X, accusing the RSS of insulting the National Flag in 1948. He cited a government letter to back his claim, but official records show no evidence linking the RSS to any such act.

Documents from the National Archives reveal that the incident Kharge referred to involved an individual named Bhagat Ram from Amritsar, who was arrested for tearing the flag, with no mention of RSS anywhere in the government correspondence. This exposes the Congress leader’s claim as another attempt to distort history and spread propaganda against the RSS.

12. Supreme Court Stays Order to Form Communal-Based SIT in Akola Riots Case

The Supreme Court on Tuesday stayed an earlier order that directed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) with officers from both Hindu and Muslim communities to probe an assault case linked to the 2023 Akola communal riots in Maharashtra. The stay was issued by a bench led by Chief Justice BR Gavai after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the Maharashtra government, requested suspension of the previous directive.

The Court noted that neither the accused nor the complainant can decide the investigating agency and issued a notice to the respondents, returnable in four weeks. The earlier order by a two-judge bench had criticised the Maharashtra police and directed a mixed-community SIT to ensure fairness, but the Supreme Court has now paused that decision pending further review.

13. Supreme Court to Hear Petitions Challenging Voter Roll Revisions in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal Today

The Supreme Court will today hear petitions challenging the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi will take up the matter in the afternoon. The DMK, CPI(M), and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee have opposed the SIR in Tamil Nadu, while the AIADMK has filed an intervention supporting it. The West Bengal Congress Committee has also challenged the SIR in West Bengal.

14. Supreme Court Slams Jharkhand High Court for ‘Vague’ Bail Order to Murder Convicts, Orders Immediate Surrender

The Supreme Court on Monday criticised the Jharkhand High Court for granting bail to three murder convicts through a vague and unreasoned order, calling it “disturbing and unfortunate.” A bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and KV Viswanathan set aside the bail order and directed the convicts to surrender within 24 hours, failing which non-bailable warrants will be issued. The Court also noted the absence of the Jharkhand government during the proceedings and asked the High Court to rehear the bail plea as per legal principles.
