1. Supreme Court Halts Karnataka HC Ruling, Cautions Multiplexes That Overpricing May Lead to Empty Halls

The Supreme Court on November 3 stayed the Karnataka High Court’s September 30 order, which had directed multiplexes to maintain detailed and auditable records of every ticket sold, including payment mode, GST details and booking time. The stay will remain in effect until further orders.

The Karnataka High Court, in its order, had emphasized transparency in ticket sales and mandated that multiplexes maintain digitally traceable receipts, a daily cash register countersigned by the manager-in-charge, and complete records of each transaction. The division bench had issued the order while reviewing the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) (Amendment) Rules, 2025, which aimed to cap movie ticket prices at ₹200.

Hearing a plea from the Multiplex Association of India, the Supreme Court observed that cinema is already declining due to high prices and warned that theatres could soon be empty if tickets remain expensive. The top court also supported making cinema affordable for all.

The gang, which adopted screen names from the series, also duped people of another Rs 23 crore through fraudulent stock market schemes. Key members—Arpit (“Professor”), Prabhat Vajpayee (“Amanda”), and Abbas (“Freddy”)—have been arrested. They created multiple social media and WhatsApp groups, luring investors with promises of high returns. Initially giving small profits to gain trust, they blocked accounts once large sums were deposited. Investigations revealed links in Noida, Guwahati, and possibly China. Police recovered mobile phones, SIM cards, bank documents, and transaction records and are now searching for additional gang members and international collaborators involved in the cyber fraud.

Hearing the child’s screams, her mother rushed to the mosque, prompting the Maulvi to flee in a suspicious manner. In its recent report, “Asset Recovery Guidance and Best Practices”, FATF highlighted the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for its efficiency in tracing, freezing, and confiscating proceeds of crime. The report noted India’s well-coordinated, technology-driven system, which combines legal tools with inter-agency collaboration, allowing both conviction-based and non-conviction-based asset seizures. FATF also lauded India’s legislative strength under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and highlighted successful high-value recoveries in corporate frauds, bank scams, and investment schemes. Special mention was given to India’s value-based confiscation approach, ensuring criminals cannot retain illicit gains.

The cow belonged to Suman (52), an auto driver from Johnsonpet, who had offered the cow to the goddess during last year’s Aadi Thiruvizha festival. Suman discovered the cow missing on 4 October 2025, prompting a police complaint. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the trio has committed similar thefts. BJP members have demanded strict action, citing a possible wider trend of cows offered at temples being sold for slaughter.

When the victim asked Azhar to marry her after becoming pregnant, he refused. Following this, the victim filed a police case. The police arrested Azhar and sent him to jail. After serving 40 days, he was released and married the girl in court based on an agreement (ikrar-nama). However, he abandoned her just three months later.

The police recorded the minor’s statement in front of a magistrate and are conducting a thorough investigation into the case.

9. Punjab: Another Kabaddi Player, Gurvinder Singh, Shot Dead in Ludhiana — Security Under AAP Government Questioned

In Ludhiana’s Manki village, Punjab, on the night of November 4, 2025, kabaddi player Gurvinder Singh (23) was shot dead by four masked attackers. The incident took place while Gurvinder was preparing for a community event with his friends. During the firing, Dharmveer and Gurvinder were critically injured, while Lovepreet managed to escape unharmed. 10. Rahul Gandhi Pushes “Vote Chori” Allegations Citing Haryana CM’s Remarks, Original Press Conference Busts Disinformation Campaign

In his so-called H-bomb press conference, Leader of the Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi escalated his “vote chori” narrative. As supposed clinching proof, he alleged that Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh had dropped hints of an “arrangement” that would swing the election results in the BJP’s favour. Ironically, this allegation insinuates a “post-poll arrangement,” which contradicts Gandhi’s core claim of “voter roll fraud,” a charge that implies pre-poll manipulation.

However, a fact-check by OpIndia debunked this claim by sharing the original video and the actual question posed to CM Saini, which provides critical context to his remarks. The clip used by Rahul Gandhi in his H-bomb press conference was a trimmed portion from CM Saini’s October 6, 2024 briefing. The edited clip was presented as evidence that Saini’s remark — “we have all the arrangements” — referred to vote manipulation.

In the full video, CM Nayab Singh is responding to a question about alliance politics and potential post-election manoeuvring. His reply clearly expresses confidence that the BJP is prepared to form the government independently, without needing any alliance — not electoral rigging. The complete video makes it evident that Rahul Gandhi quoted CM Saini out of context to push a disinformation campaign.

11. Shimla: Sukhu Government Accused of Being Anti-Women; Himachal HC Issues Notice

The Congress government of Himachal Pradesh has issued an ordinance extending the tenure of the Shimla Municipal Corporation Mayor to five years. The controversy arose because this decision came just when the post was due to be reserved for a Scheduled Caste woman. Challenging this “anti-women” decision, a petition was filed in the Himachal Pradesh High Court, which on November 4, 2025, issued a notice to the Sukhu government and sought a reply by November 11.

Petitioner Anjali Soni Verma alleged that the decision was made to benefit a particular individual and violates women’s constitutional rights. She has demanded the cancellation of the ordinance.

Notably, the current Mayor, Surender Chauhan’s term was to end on November 15, 2025, but the Sukhu government extended it by five more years through the controversial decision.

12. DRI Seizes ₹42 Crore Hydroponic Weed at Mumbai Airport; Two Passengers Arrested After Bangkok Flight

In a major anti-drug operation, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 42.34 kg of hydroponic weed worth around ₹42 crore from two passengers arriving from Bangkok at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on November 2. Acting on intelligence, officials intercepted the duo and discovered 21 food packets labelled as noodles and biscuits that were concealing the contraband. Field tests confirmed it was hydroponic weed, leading to its seizure under the NDPS Act, 1985. Both suspects were arrested and questioned. This follows another DRI bust on October 31, where ₹47 crore worth of cocaine was seized. Together, over ₹90 crore drugs have been recovered recently under “Operation Weed Out,” part of India’s campaign toward a “Nasha Mukt Bharat.”

According to officials, the terrorists opened fire during the operation, after which the security forces retaliated. It is suspected that two to three terrorists are hiding in the area. The White Knight Corps has confirmed that firing on the terrorists is still ongoing.

In Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Awas Yojana, constructed on land freed from the illegal possession of mafia Mukhtar Ansari. He handed over keys to 72 poor families for their new homes.

CM Yogi clearly stated that any mafia who illegally occupies government land will face the same fate as seen in Lucknow and Prayagraj. He mentioned that these flats, built in a prime location and worth ₹1 crore in the market, have been provided to beneficiaries for just ₹10.70 lakh.

Reaffirming his stand, Yogi said professional criminals will no longer be allowed to exploit the poor or illegally seize land in Uttar Pradesh. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister for receiving their homes. Earlier, land seized from gangster Atiq Ahmed was also used to construct flats for poor families.

15. Maharashtra Officially Renames Islampur as Ishwarpur After Nearly Four Decades of Demand

After years of public demand and political efforts, the Maharashtra government has officially changed the name of Islampur in Sangli district to Ishwarpur. The proposal, approved by the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on July 18, later received final clearance from the Union Home Ministry and the Survey of India. The town’s civic body will now be called Urun Ishwarpur Nagar Parishad.

Under this system, school buses will be equipped with RFID tags, GPS devices, and cameras, allowing parents and school authorities to track the students’ movements. The project, being developed under the supervision of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, is modeled after systems used in the US, China, and Singapore. However, cyber law expert Pavan Duggal has raised concerns about data security and emphasized the need for strong safeguards under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, to prevent misuse of children’s location data.

17. “10% Control The Sena”: Rahul Gandhi Triggers Outrage With Contentious Remarks on Indian Armed Forces, BJP Accuses Him of Insulting Army

Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi sparked massive controversy with his contentious statement that “10% of India’s population controls the nation’s wealth, institutions and even the armed forces.” Speaking at a rally in Kutumba, he claimed that the remaining 90%, including Dalits, backward classes, and minorities, lack fair representation. The BJP strongly condemned the remark, accusing Gandhi of insulting the Indian Army and promoting caste-based politics. BJP spokesperson Suresh Nakhua said Gandhi’s comments reflect his “hatred for India.” Party leaders demanded an immediate apology, calling his words divisive. This is not the first time Gandhi has faced backlash over the Army; earlier, his remarks on Chinese incursions had drawn sharp criticism. The issue has reignited debate on caste, politics and national institutions ahead of the Bihar polls.

18. First Wife Must Be Heard Before Registering Muslim Man’s Second Marriage: Kerala High Court

The Kerala High Court ruled that before a Muslim man’s second marriage is registered under the Kerala Registration of Marriages (Common) Rules, 2008, his first wife must be given a chance to be heard. Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan stated that though Muslim personal law allows a man to have multiple wives, constitutional law and fairness must prevail in registration matters. The ruling came after a Muslim man and his second wife sought registration of their marriage, which was rejected by the registrar. The Court clarified that if the first wife objects, the registrar must not register the marriage and the couple must approach a competent court. It emphasized that the first wife’s feelings and rights must not be ignored and she deserves justice and equal protection under the Constitution.

21. Karnataka High Court Halts Defamation Case Against Republic Kannada and Its Journalists

The Karnataka High Court has temporarily halted criminal defamation proceedings against Republic TV Kannada, its editor and anchors. The case was filed by IAS officer Sangappa, former Managing Director of KEONICS, alleging that the channel and others conspired to damage his reputation through a panel discussion. Justice Mohammad Nawaz issued the stay order after the accused sought to quash the case filed under Section 499 of the IPC. The petitioners argued that the remarks aired were made by KEONICS vendors and not by the journalists themselves. They also contended that the Magistrate failed to verify whether essential elements of defamation were present before issuing summons. Considering these arguments, the court stayed the proceedings until the next hearing for further examination.

22. Wanted Fugitive Zakir Naik Denied Entry into Bangladesh; Yunus Government Cancels Visit After Criticism

The Mohammad Yunus-led government in Bangladesh has decided not to allow wanted fugitive Zakir Naik, a radical preacher accused of promoting extremism, to enter the country. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Home Ministry’s core committee after widespread criticism over Naik’s proposed visit and India’s renewed call for his extradition. Naik faces charges of terrorism and money laundering in India and currently resides in Malaysia. The former Sheikh Hasina government had banned him after investigations revealed that terrorists involved in the Dhaka café attack were inspired by his speeches. Zakir Naik was scheduled to visit Bangladesh on November 28–29 to attend a religious event, but his permission has now been revoked.

External Affairs Minister S. 24. US Mayor Election: Zohran Mamdani Wins From Democrats’ Bastion; Global Leftists, Islamists Hail Party’s Radicalisation as “Historic”; GOP Says 9/11 Forgotten

In a predictable outcome, Zohran Mamdani, a radical Democratic socialist, has won the New York City mayoral election. Global Leftists and Islamist groups have celebrated the result as a “historic moment” — reminiscent of the premature euphoria seen after the victory of centre-left politician Emmanuel Macron. Democrats, especially those aligned with Indian Islamo-Leftist groups, had similarly celebrated Macron, only to face massive setbacks on the anti-India front.

The fact remains that New York City has been electing a Democratic mayor for the better part of six decades out of the last century, making this result more of a reaffirmation of the Democratic Party rather than a mandate driven by Mamdani’s individual achievements or influence. Still, the party’s decision to field Mamdani, and his victory from this long-held Democratic bastion, signals a stark shift towards extremism and open communist tendencies.

Strikingly, Mamdani’s campaign was shadowed by controversy — including his association with a radical Imam linked to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, and his Hinduphobic stance on multiple occasions. Republicans have reacted sharply, with Donald Trump blaming the loss on his absence from the ticket. GOP leaders and supporters have, on the other hand, accused New Yorkers of ignoring the Islamist threat barely 24 years after 9/11.

25. Indian Worker Kidnapped by Sudan’s RSF in Conflict-Hit Darfur, Images Displays Horrors of Civil War Horror

An Indian worker, Adarsh Behera (36) from Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district, was kidnapped by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in war-hit Darfur. Behera, who had been working at a plastic factory in Sudan since 2022, was abducted from El-Fasher and is believed to be taken to Nyala, a stronghold of the RSF. In a verified video, Behera is seen seated between two armed terrorists, one asks him, “Do you know Shah Rukh Khan?” while another forces him to say, “Dagalo good,” referring to RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti).

Another video shows Behera pleading with folded hands, saying, “I am in El-Fasher, the situation is very bad. My family and children are worried. Please help me.” His wife Susmita Behera, deeply distressed, said her husband had warned her about worsening violence in Sudan but they never expected this crisis. The family has appealed to the Odisha government and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for urgent action.

Former Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and the Government of India have expressed concern and initiated coordination with Sudanese authorities for Behera’s safe release. The Sudanese ambassador to India, Dr Mohammed Abdalla Ali Eltom, confirmed that efforts are underway and assured cooperation with Indian officials.
