This Day in History | Neelkanth Assassinated for Justice |Padmavati India’s First Female Air Marshal

On November 4, 1989, retired Jammu and Kashmir judge Neelkanth Ganjoo was assassinated in Srinagar, an act believed to be retaliation by terrorist groups opposing his 1984 death sentence of JKLF leader Maqbool Bhat. Ganjoo, a Kashmiri Pandit, was murdered during a peak of political unrest and militancy in the Kashmir Valley.
