While inaugurating the new Pamban railway bridge linking Rameswaram island in Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the DMK-led state government over the language issue. He questioned why state leaders sign official letters in English, declaring, “Tamil is a language of pride. I am surprised… no one signs their name in Tamil.”
