The incident took place during Islamist attack on Durga Puja immersion procession on October 13, 2024, in the Maharajganj area of Bahraich. As the procession passed through a Muslim‑dominated neighbourhood, tensions over loud music turned violent. During the clash, gunfire erupted and Mishra was shot. He was rushed to hospital but later died. This triggered widespread communal violence, with mobs torching houses, shops, hospitals, vehicles and more. Over a year later, after detailed hearings, the court found these ten accused guilty.

The seriously injured girl was found bleeding heavily in the neighborhood. She was immediately admitted to the hospital for treatment, where her condition is currently stable. The police, after questioning over 100 suspects, have arrested the accused.
Haryana: FIR Filed Against Maulvis for Allegedly Spitting and Urinating Near Gorakhnath Temple in Fatehabad
A serious case of hurting religious sentiments has emerged near the Gorakhnath Temple in Tohana, Fatehabad district of Haryana. Local Hindu organisations have complained to the police that maulvis from a nearby madrasa/mosque are deliberately spitting and urinating near the temple.
The complainant, Palaram, alleged that ever since some Muslims started coming into the area, incidents of abuse and threats have increased, making it difficult for him to live there.
He said that due to receiving continuous death threats, he is living in constant fear. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the Fatehabad SP has ordered the immediate registration of an FIR. The police are currently investigating the case.

According to police, after Shanu Ali caught Naghma and Mukesh in a compromising situation and asked her to choose between them, she chose Shanu. The couple then conspired to murder Mukesh. Both have confessed and are in jail.

In another case, MG Road Police have arrested Sufiyan Khan. According to Karni Sena, Sufiyan is accused of keeping a Hindu girl under contract, making her wear a burqa, and making her recite Kalma. The police have sent Sufiyan to jail under preventive sections for now. However, according to TI Vijay Singh Sisodia, the girl has not filed any formal report.
Sufiyan also faces allegations of blackmail, religious conversion, and physical exploitation involving other girls.

Two Pakistani Brothers Manjeer Hussain and Imtiaz Ali Jailed in the UK for Raping and Exploiting Minor Girls; Third Accused Absconding
In the United Kingdom, two Pakistani brothers, Manjeer Hussain (54) and Imtiaz Ali (53), have been sentenced to 30 years and 28 years in prison, respectively, for the rape and exploitation of five minor girls aged between 13 and 16. The two targeted economically vulnerable minors, drugged them until they were unconscious, and later handed them over to other men.
The court described the crime as a “campaign of rape.” According to media reports, the third brother, Ghulam Hussain, is absconding and is believed to have fled to Pakistan. One of the victims described the accused as “the rubbish of the earth.”
It is noteworthy that the case came to light after one of the victims filed a complaint with the police against all three accused.
Karnataka: Udupi Court Sentences Hakim Ali and 9 Other Bangladeshi Infiltrators to 2 Years in Jail, Imposes Fine
In Udupi, Karnataka, the CJM Court has sentenced 10 Bangladeshi infiltrators to two years of imprisonment for illegally entering India and staying with forged documents. Each convict has also been fined ₹10,000.
This case dates back to October 11, 2024, when police detained seven suspects near the Vadabhandeshwara Bus Stand in Malpe. During the investigation, it was revealed that the infiltrators had obtained fake Aadhaar cards. Later, three more illegal migrants were identified, bringing the total number of accused to 10 (Hakim Ali, Sujon SK alias “Farooq”, Ismail SK alias “Mohammad Ismail Haq”, Karim SK alias “Abdul Karim”, Salam SK alias “Mohammad Abdul Aziz”, Rajikul SK, Mohammad Sojib alias “Mohammad Alan Ali”, Rimool alias “Abdul Rahman”, Mohammad Imam Sheikh, and Mohammad Jahangir Alam).
On December 8, the court found all of them guilty of forgery and illegal entry.

Villager Sushil said the offensive post sparked an argument with Rohit, and although a morning panchayat had settled the matter, the Muslim group later returned and launched the attack, claiming the accused “opened fire without any warning.” SP Sagar Jain said, “A dispute occurred between two communities. Two people have suffered injuries during firing, and treatment is underway.”
Strict Action if BLOs Are Threatened or SIR Process Is Obstructed, Full Protection Will Be Provided: SC
The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed all states to ensure full protection for Booth Level Officers (BLOs) engaged in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. The Court warned that if any BLO is threatened or if their work is obstructed, the matter will be taken very seriously.
This directive came after reports of BLOs being threatened in West Bengal, although the Election Commission has also mentioned instances of non-cooperation in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The Court stated that the safety of BLOs is a top priority and instructed the Election Commission to directly inform the Court if any non-cooperation is encountered. The Court also expressed concern about the excessive workload on BLOs.
