Nayab Government’s Push For Eco-Friendly Haryana: Approves 200 Electric Buses and 9 New Power Substations

In a significant move toward modernising public transport and strengthening the state’s power infrastructure, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has approved a series of crucial projects. The initiatives focus on eco-friendly commuting and robust energy distribution across the state.
Expanding the Electric Mobility Fleet
To provide commuters with modern, pollution-free travel options, the Haryana government will induct 200 new electric buses into its public transport fleet.
Key highlights of the transport project include:
New Bus Depots: Dedicated electric bus depots will be developed in Hisar and Ambala.
Investment: Approximately ₹26 crore has been earmarked for the construction of these specialised depots.
Environmental Impact: This move aligns with the ‘Net Zero’ goal, significantly reducing the state’s carbon footprint and promoting environmental conservation.
Strengthening Power Infrastructure
Recognising that a green fleet requires a strong power grid, CM Saini has approved the establishment of 9 new electricity substations across various cities.
The Palwal region, in particular, is set for a major upgrade with projects worth ₹100 crore receiving the green light.
These includes:
Two new substations to ensure consistent industrial and domestic power supply.
A modern bus stand equipped with the latest facilities.
Charging Infrastructure: The new power stations will specifically bolster the charging network required for the expanding EV fleet.
Vision for a ‘Net Zero’ Haryana
The Chief Minister emphasized that these projects are stepping stones toward making Haryana self-reliant in the energy sector. By integrating clean energy with public transport, the government aims to bring Haryana’s infrastructure up to global standards.
