BJP’s Sambit Patra Accuses Rahul Gandhi’s Foreign-Based Network of Operating Fake X Accounts to Influence Indian Narrative
The BJP on Thursday strongly criticised the Congress Party, saying that many X (formerly Twitter) accounts linked to Congress leaders and supporters are being operated from foreign countries to influence political discussions in India. During a press conference, BJP MP Sambit Patra said that since 2014, Congress, Rahul Gandhi, and several Left-leaning figures have repeatedly targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attempted to portray India negatively.
Patra claimed that individuals connected to Rahul Gandhi, who are based in countries such as Bangladesh, Pakistan, Southeast Asia, West Asia, Europe and the United States, are helping shape political narratives against the government. He said that Rahul Gandhi not only criticises India abroad but also relies on foreign-based teams to plan such campaigns.
He referred to Elon Musk’s new X feature that reveals the location and history of an account. According to Patra, the official BJP account shows its location as India, while senior Congress leader Pawan Khera’s account appears to be operated from the US. He added that the Maharashtra Congress account earlier showed Ireland as its base, and the Himachal Pradesh Congress account was linked to Thailand.
Patra further said that Congress used these foreign accounts to spread messages about “vote chor ” and “Operation Sindoor,” claiming many of these accounts are fake and created by the Congress, Left ecosystem to mislead voters and attack India’s image. Patra further said campaigns like “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chhod” were also run from outside India, which he described as a very concerning matter.
Supreme Court Directs Comedians Samay Raina, Vipul Goyal, Balraj Ghai, Sonali Thakkar and Nishant Tanwar To Hold Monthly Fundraisers for SMA Patients
The Supreme Court, in its hearing on the “Latent row” and related issues, directed stand-up comedian Samay Raina and four other comedians—Vipul Goyal, Balraj Singh Ghai, Sonali Thakkar, and Nishant Tanwar—to organise at least two fundraising events every month to support the treatment of persons with disabilities, including children suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). The order was passed by a bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, responding to a plea by the Cure SMA India Foundation, which argued that online content had disrespected the dignity of specially-abled persons. The court urged the comedians to also showcase success stories of differently-abled individuals to promote awareness and dignity, emphasizing that the aim is not punishment but social responsibility and restoration of respect.
During the proceedings, the court raised broader concerns about objectionable online content and the balance between freedom of speech and protection of vulnerable communities. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta stressed that freedom of expression does not permit “anything and everything,” suggesting the need for regulation of user-generated content. The bench questioned the effectiveness of self-regulation, noting that response times are too slow to prevent viral spread of harmful material. It called for a neutral, independent, and autonomous body to regulate online content, highlighting the urgency of protecting fundamental rights while curbing obscenity and derogatory content.
The court also discussed the need for stricter laws to protect the dignity of persons with disabilities, drawing parallels with the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The bench asked the Centre to consider framing a stringent law to penalize derogatory remarks against specially-abled persons, similar to existing protections for marginalized communities. The Solicitor General acknowledged that humour cannot come at the cost of someone’s dignity and affirmed that the government is in the process of formulating new guidelines for social media content regulation.

“Should intruders with Aadhaar be allowed to vote?”: SC Amid Opposition’s Push For Aadhaar As Valid Proof For Inclusion In Voter List
The Supreme Court has raised serious concerns after reports surfaced that some intruders managed to obtain Aadhaar cards by fraudulent means. The bench, led by Chief Justice Surya Kant, questioned whether a non-citizen holding an Aadhaar card should automatically be eligible to vote. The court clarified that Aadhaar was created only to ensure the delivery of welfare benefits and does not serve as proof of citizenship.
Hearing petitions concerning the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of voter lists, the bench reiterated that Aadhaar cannot confirm citizenship and must be treated only as a supporting document. The court added that the Election Commission has full authority to verify documents submitted for voter registration and is not merely a “post office.”
Opposition’s counsel Kapil Sibal alleged that the SIR process places an unfair burden on ordinary and illiterate voters. To which, the court replied, “Lists are publicly displayed in panchayats and posted on official websites, We do not decide in a vacuum.”
The Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to submit its responses by December 1, after which the matter will be taken up again.

Amid SIR Cleanup, UIDAI Disables Aadhaar IDs of 2 Crore Deceased Individuals
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has disabled over 2 crore Aadhaar numbers belonging to people who have passed away, as part of a large-scale national data-cleaning operation. The move aims to protect the accuracy of the Aadhaar database and prevent misuse of identity documents. UIDAI matched Aadhaar records with official death registrations and data from the Registrar General of India, state governments, and various central ministries before deactivation.
Families can report a relative’s death on the “myAadhaar” portal by submitting the Aadhaar number, death registration details, and basic information. UIDAI verifies the inputs and then proceeds with deactivation. The authority has also outlined a reactivation process for individuals whose Aadhaar may have been wrongly disabled, ensuring corrections can be made with valid proof.
The development comes amid the ongoing process of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for the cleanup of electoral rolls, an exercise in which the opposition, in a surprising u-turn, has advocated for the inclusion of the Aadhaar Card as a valid document for verification. Now, with prompt cleanup efforts from the UIDAI, the lacunas (fabricated misuse of deceased persons’ identities), which have been exploited by illegal aliens and their sympathizers and enablers, can be addressed, making Aadhaar a potential valid proof in constitutional schemes such as adult franchise.
